Description

I asked myself a question tonight - "What if Nintendo decided to remake the 64 version of Super Smash Bros?"
This was partially inspired by a rebooted version of Super Smash Bros. Melee I had seen on this site. My rules for creating this roster were:

// Rules //
1. All characters had to be relevant throughout the lifespan of the Nintendo 64 (1996 - 2001)
2. All characters had to originate from Nintendo games (a.k.a. NO 3rd Party characters)
3. Characters that had major importance in Nintendo 64 games took priority over other characters
4. The roster is limited to 30 characters (not counting transformations)
5. The Original 12 must remain.

Thus, this roster was born.
The remade version would include improvements from Melee/Brawl, such as the Side Special and Final Smash, but moves from games released on Gamecube/Wii/DS, such as Mario's FLUDD, are NOT included.

Character Playstyles:
1. Mario - Mario functions exactly as he does in Smash Bros 64, with the addition of his Side Special and Final Smash.
2. Luigi - Luigi functions exactly as he does in Smash Bros 64, with the addition of his Final Smash.
3. Princess Peach - Princess Peach functions exactly as she did in Melee, with the addition of her Final Smash.
4. Bowser - Bowser functions exactly as he did in Melee, with the addition of his Final Smash.
5. Paper Mario - Paper Mario utilizes the various tools and references to his original partners to fight his opponents. His personal attacks range from Jump Attacks with his Boots to Hammer Attacks. He is much smaller and lighter than other Mario characters.
6. Pikachu - Pikachu functions exactly as it does in Smash Bros 64, with the addition of its Final Smash.
7. Meowth - Meowth primarily uses its feline attributes to attack opponents. Its common attacks range from Scratch to Bite to Slash to Fury Swipes. Of course, Pay Day, the move commonly associated with it functions as its Normal Special move.
8. Mewtwo - Mewtwo receives a considerable buff from his appearance in Melee. His Smash Attacks now have increased K.O. potential and his Specials now have a longer period of effect or an additional effect. His Final Smash is now his signature move, Psystrike.
9. Jigglypuff - Jigglypuff functions exactly as it did in Smash Bros 64, with the addition of its Side Special and Final Smash.
10. Yoshi - Yoshi functions exactly as it did in Smash Bros 64, with the addition of the Side Special and Final Smash.
11. Link - Link functions exactly as he did in Smash Bros 64, with the addition of his Side Special and Final Smash.
12. Zelda / Sheik - Zelda and Sheik function exactly as they did in Melee, with the addition of their Final Smashes.
13. Ganondorf - Ganondorf receives a complete revamp from his Melee counterpart. Ganondorf uses the variety of magic displayed in the boss fight against him in Ocarina of Time. He is able to fire energy balls, waves of darkness and imprison players in crystal prisons for periods of time. His Final Smash, however, remains the same.
14. Masked Link - Masked Link utilizes the various masks featured in Majora's Mask to change his playstyle. Without a mask, he functions near-identical to his younger counterpart featured in Melee. In the Deku Mask, Link is lighter and faster but weaker, utilizing Deku Seeds, Propeller Flowers and the like. In the Goron Mask, Link is extremely heavy and slow, but very powerful with his rolling attacks. In the Zora Mask, Link is balanced in all areas, but can swim for an extended period of time in comparison to all other characters.
15. Skull Kid - Skull Kid uses a combination of powers from Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask. For commonplace attacks, he attacks with his claws and kicks in a cryptic, dance-like manner. He can also perform demented versions of Ocarina songs and various attacks with the help of Majora's Mask.
16. Kirby - Kirby functions exactly as he did in Smash Bros 64, with the addition of his Side Special and Final Smash.
17. King Dedede - King Dedede functions exactly as he did in Brawl.
18. Meta-Knight - Meta-Knight functions exactly as he did in Brawl.
19. Adeleine - Adeleine relies heavily on her paintbrush to paint various items and monsters that come to life after a moment or two. She can paint anything from a Maxim Tomato to an Ice Dragon. When not painting an object directly, she can defend herself by smacking around enemies with the paintbrush itself.
20. Ness - Ness functions exactly as he did in Smash Bros 64, with the addition of his Side Special and Final Smash.
21. Fox McCloud - Fox functions exactly as he does in Smash Bros 64, with the addition of his Side Special and Final Smash.
22. Slippy Toad - Slippy relies heavily on machinery and fast-paced shooting in comparison to the other members of Star Fox (and Star Wolf). He can utilize hand grenades along with his various mechanical tools, such as his trusty screwdriver and wrench, to attack as well. In the rare instance, he also can pull out his trusty Machine Gun.
23. Wolf O'Donnell - Wolf functions exactly as he does in Brawl.
24. Captain Falcon - Captain Falcon functions exactly as he did in Smash Bros 64, with the addition of his Side Special and Final Smash.
25. Samus / Zero Suit Samus - Samus functions exactly as she did in Smash Bros 64, with the addition of her Side Special and Final Smash.
26. Wario - Wario functions exactly as he did in Brawl.
27. Donkey Kong - Donkey Kong functions exactly as he did in Smash Bros 64, with the addition of his Side Special and Final Smash.
28. Diddy Kong - Diddy Kong functions exactly as he did in Brawl.
29. King K. Rool - King K. Rool is an absolute brute that focuses on pure physical beatdowns. He can throw his pointy crown at opponents, bounce projectiles off of his belly or beat opponents senseless with his boxing gloves. His attacks also reference several off his other incarnations, such as the Blunderbuss from Kaptain K. Rool.
30. D.K. Crew - The D.K. Crew is actually made up of three separate characters - Tiny Kong, Lanky Kong and Chunky Kong. Tiny Kong is the quickest and most agile of the bunch, able to use her Ponytail Copter, Feather Bow and size-changing abilities. Lanky Kong is the balanced character of the bunch that can extend his limbs at will and use his Grape Shooter. Chunky is the strongest of the bunch who can use his immense strength and Pineapple Shooter.
